Upswell, Denver’s neighborhood wellness club dedicated to active recovery, mindful movement and social connection in a friendly, inclusive environment, opened its third location in the RiNo neighborhood at 3636 Blake St.

Founded by Heather Holland, the former COO of CorePower Yoga – the largest yoga studio brand in the United States – Upswell emerged in a post-pandemic world hungry for connection and a fresh approach to wellness. What began as outdoor yoga classes and casual wellness-infused social gatherings in local Denver parks evolved into a pop-up studio in Glendale, and eventually into a neighborhood wellness club, first on South Broadway in 2023, followed by a second in Central Park in 2024.

“We’ve reimagined boutique fitness at Upswell to be simple, feel-good wellness without judgment or expectations, and we’re so excited to bring that energy to RiNo,” said Holland, founder and CEO. “We hope to see Upswell RiNo become another neighborhood wellness club where members know each other by name, like we’ve seen at South Broadway and Central Park. More than anything, we hope our members come to Upswell to find joy in movement, growth in stillness and a sense of belonging – to keep doing what they love, for years to come.”

Providing a social third space that offers feel-good wellness among a welcoming community, the “try it on” approach to Upswell includes a range of science-backed, time-honored active recovery and mindful movement practices that serve everyone in preparing for everyday life, from the professionally trained athlete to the passionate corporate professional.

Active recovery modalities that amplify well-being and restore essential strength, balance and harmony, include:

  • Plunge (cold water immersion): A 40–50-degree water plunge boosts mood, immunity and mental resilience. Activate flow state, improve circulation, and reduce stress for a revitalizing reset, leaving guests refreshed and focused.
  • Sweat (traditional sauna): The traditional sauna is heated up to 180 degrees, and whether practicing stillness or a social sweat, guests will improve cardiovascular health, boost immunity and relieve pain.
  • Glow (infrared sauna): The infrared sauna with red-light therapy heated up to 175 degrees, warms from the inside out. This soothing experience promotes deep relaxation and regulation while promoting heart and skin health.
  • Revive (compression and PEMF therapy): Rest and recharge with air compression and heated pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy mats to boost circulation, reduce swelling and speed recovery. The soothing infrared heat and PEMF enhance blood flow, promote recovery and calm the nervous system.

Mindful movement classes take place in a studio with a nurturing warmth around 75-80 degrees and include:

  • Restore (Yin-inspired): Ease tension and soothe the nervous system with this yin-inspired, restorative class that utilizes soft tissue release tools and supportive techniques to help guests feel relaxed and grounded.
  • Flow (gentle yoga): A gentle yoga-inspired flow integrates soft tissue release techniques to enhance mobility, balance, flexibility and strength while reducing stress and increasing focus.
  • Power (high intensity vinyasa): This class starts with a traditional power yoga flow to build strength and resilience, gradually progressing to a peak posture. Soft tissue release techniques are woven throughout, and the experience concludes with an Upswell signature moment of constructive rest for deep recovery.
  • Ignite (mat Pilates and flow): This mat Pilates-inspired class combines traditional Pilates exercises with dynamic flow to strengthen the core, build agility and enhance mind-body connection to help guests feel balanced and energized.
  • Resonate (restore and sound bath): This gentle yoga flow, paired with soft tissue release and a live sound bath meditation, uses breathwork to reduce stress, anxiety and tension.
