With the release of its Barcelona guide, sports travel website Zafiri announced the publication of its 50th city guide, extending a collection of resources designed for runners, cyclists and swimmers. Each city guide provides precise recommendations for travelling athletes aiming to maintain a training schedule when on the road, as well as finding trusted hotels and healthy, local food.

The most popular guides have been Barcelona, Cape Town, and Tokyo, which are a few shining examples of what the Zafiri city guides can look like.

“We continue to see a steady rise in endurance sports with running, cycling and swimming gaining loyal followers,” says editor Will Ross, “but finding high-quality, accessible places to train is hard, even in your own city. We’ve curated the 50 city guides to help athletic travellers organise their schedule and provide an authentic way to explore new places. The maintenance of running tracks, swimming pools and cycleways are often a peripheral concern for municipal administrations – we want them to be designed and celebrated as essential infrastructure.”

Each city guide is packaged in a mobile-friendly page that prescribes:

  • Free or pay-per-visit running tracks, locations for hill intervals, and continuous runs;
  • Group rides for cyclists to join, and decent road bike rentals;
  • Pristine 25m or 50m pools, as well as swimmable outdoor water;
  • Accessible gyms with drop-in options;
  • Hotel recommendations with convenient bike storage;
  • Local restaurants, coffee shops, and bars to experience the city post-exercise.

The guides are available for free at zafiri.com, and the catalogue will grow each quarter with the addition of new cities. Subscribers can sign up to receive email digests for free, with an annual membership of £90 available to those looking to join training weekends – Zafiri Trips.
