Energie Fitness Tallaght, one of the largest clubs in the Energie Fitness estate, has officially opened following the complete transformation of a landmark former nightclub and restaurant venue into a modern four-floor health and fitness destination featuring a full installation of Matrix Fitness equipment.
Drawing on the building’s unique heritage and combining it with premium fitness experiences, the club has quickly established itself as one of the most talked-about fitness destinations in the local area.
The project was designed to offer members something entirely different from a traditional gym environment. The club now delivers a multi-zone training experience featuring dedicated cardio, strength, free weights, boxing, stretching and group exercise areas, alongside “The Yard”, a dedicated functional training zone.
The redevelopment of the building presented both a commercial opportunity and a cultural shift. The site, once known locally as a nightlife destination, has been reimagined as a community-focused wellness hub that reflects changing lifestyles and priorities.
Narinder Kaushal, who is opening his fifth Energie Fitness club with the new Tallaght site, explains: “The building has a very strong local history and was once one of the best-known nightclub venues in the area. When we first viewed the property, the scale of the redevelopment required was significant, but we could immediately see the potential to create something truly unique for the community.
Lifestyle habits are changing. Younger generations are placing far more value on health, fitness and wellbeing, and gyms are becoming modern social spaces where people come together, train and connect. Transforming a nightclub into a gym felt like a natural evolution for the building and the local area.”
Working alongside Matrix Fitness, the club team developed a complete equipment solution designed to appeal to all member demographics while maximising the unique four-floor layout of the site. The installation includes a wide range of Matrix cardio equipment, pin-loaded resistance machines, free weights and connected fitness technology.
The club also features a mix of touchscreen-connected cardio products and non-screen equipment to cater for varying member preferences, while Matrix strength equipment with integrated instructional technology and rep-counting functionality has helped create a more intuitive and accessible training environment for members of all experience levels.

Throughout the planning process, Matrix worked closely with the Energie Fitness team to develop detailed layouts and 3D floorplans that helped visualise the final facility before installation. The scale of the project and the building’s previous use as a nightclub also required additional planning approvals and logistical coordination prior to fit-out.
Despite these complexities, the final installation was completed smoothly within three days, with Matrix Fitness supporting the project from concept planning through to delivery and installation.
The response from the local community has exceeded expectations since launch, with the club achieving record pre-sale membership numbers prior to opening. Local residents were drawn not only by the premium equipment offering and multi-floor gym concept, but also by the emotional connection many already had with the landmark venue itself.
Kaushal continues: “Members immediately recognised that this was something very different from a standard gym. The atmosphere, the layout, the dedicated training zones and the quality of the Matrix equipment have all had an incredibly positive response.
The four-floor design means members can enjoy completely different training experiences throughout the building, while the spacious layout prevents overcrowding even during peak times. The feedback so far has been fantastic, and the club has quickly become a real destination facility within the local community.”
