MAXPRO FitTech, the DTC connected fitness brand behind the world’s most portable cable machine, today announced the launch of the MAXPRO Air — its first new product in five years and the most travel-optimized serious resistance trainer ever brought to market.
The MAXPRO Air delivers up to 125 lbs of cable resistance in a 2.85-lb unit — 75% lighter than the original MAXPRO SmartConnect — with a 12-foot cable (50% longer than the SC) that fits inside a small carry-on bag. Priced at $379 ($479 at retail), it ships in Batch 1 the second week of June, ahead of peak summer travel season.
“Five years ago we set out to prove that serious training didn’t require going to a gym,” said Nezar Akeel, Founder and CEO of MAXPRO FitTech. “The MAXPRO SC proved that. The Air takes it further. We asked ourselves: how can we make our gym even smaller and lighter? The Air is that answer.”
THE FREEDOM MACHINE — BUILT FROM CUSTOMER DEMAND
The MAXPRO Air wasn’t designed in a vacuum. It was built after five years of listening to one consistent ask from the brand’s 45,000+ customers: the SC is great — but I need something that fits in my carry-on.
For the road warrior living out of a roller bag. For the athlete who trains on a field, a court, or a track. For the physical therapist who wants a compliance tool patients can actually take home. For the beginner who wants to start cable training without the barrier of a $800 machine. The Air was engineered specifically for the life that doesn’t wait for a gym.
“The traditional training equipment that doesn’t go where you go, usually just collects dust,” said Akeel. “We built something you can just pack and use anywhere… no more excuses.”
SAME CABLE DNA. BUILT FOR A DIFFERENT LIFE.
The original MAXPRO SmartConnect (SC) — as seen on Shark Tank — redefined portable fitness by packing 300 lbs of cable resistance into a unit that fits in a backpack. The brand calls it the Power Machine. It remains the flagship.
The Air is a different product for a different buyer. The brand calls it the Freedom Machine.
Both products share MAXPRO’s patented Power Clutch resistance technology — the same system validated in a peer-reviewed UCLA study demonstrating equivalent strength gains to traditional cable machines and weights at equivalent training volume. Both are portable. The distinction is degree — and intentionality.
The SC is built for the serious home athlete who occasionally travels. The Air is built for the person who is always moving — and who refuses to let that become a reason to fall off.
Both products are designed to complement, not compete. MAXPRO’s own team uses the SC at home and travels with the Air.
WHY THE 12-FOOT CABLE MATTERS
The Air’s cable is 50% longer than the SC’s — a counterintuitive advantage that makes it the more capable training tool for sport-specific and functional movement work. The longer cable enables sprint resistance drills, lateral athletic movements, and exercises that require cable wrap around a post, a rack, or field equipment — use cases where a standard-length cable is a limiting factor. Already have a home gym rack? The MAXPRO Air mounts right to it, instantly turning your existing setup into a full cable machine.
For physical therapists and rehabilitation professionals, the Air’s combination of a 3 lb starting resistance — lower than most comparable cable machines on the market — and a 12-foot cable makes it a highly practical in-office and at-home compliance tool. For clients in early-stage recovery, post-injury rehab, or those not yet ready for the loading demands of a traditional cable stack, the Air offers a genuine first-step solution that travels home with the patient.
CONNECTED. COACHED. NO SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED.
The MAXPRO Air connects via Bluetooth to the MAXPRO Coaching App (iOS and Android), offering guided workouts, certified coach-built programs, and real-time tracking of reps, power, calories, and distance — with no required subscription but with an optional premium upgrade. The first month of Premium coaching is included with every Air purchase.
Critically, unlike the new generation of motor-powered gyms, the Air functions fully without the app or battery. The power cell drives Bluetooth connectivity only — making it a standalone resistance trainer regardless of charge level. No app. No subscription. No dependency. Just resistance.
REAL CABLE. NOT BANDS.
A note for fitness professionals evaluating the Air for client programming or facility use: the Air is not a resistance band product. It delivers concentric cable resistance through the Power Clutch — the same technology proven effective in MAXPRO’s UCLA-published strength study. The cable feel, the constant tension, and the range of motion angles are cable-specific and cannot be replicated with elastic resistance.
For gym owners, coaches, and PT clinics considering the Air as a client tool or program supplement: it brings 125 lbs of real cable training — starting at just 3 lbs — into any space, and into any client’s bag.
FIVE YEARS. 45,000+ UNITS SOLD. ONE NEW PRODUCT.
Since appearing on Shark Tank in 2020, MAXPRO Fitness has built a community of more than 45,000 customers across all 50 states and internationally. The brand has been featured in SHAPE, Men’s Health, The Wall Street Journal, Runner’s World, Sports Illustrated, Business Insider, CNET, and PopSugar. The MAXPRO SC is deployed across branches of the U.S. military and active in hotel fitness programs globally.
In November 2024, MAXPRO entered a global partnership with LG Electronics, making its coaching app available on LG Smart TVs in 271 countries. Brand partner Shaquille O’Neal remains a visible advocate for the brand and its mission.
The MAXPRO Air is the company’s first new hardware launch since inception — and the direct result of five years of customer feedback asking for the SC’s training power in an even smaller footprint.
