Germany’s LifeFit Pushes Expansion, M&A

LifeFit Group

LifeFit Group is bulking up.

What’s happening: The German fitness operator acquired four brands from Frankfurt-area operator MyLifeStyleClub: Body Culture, Fitnessfabrik, Amanusa, and Intenso.

Adding 30K members across 15 locations, LifeFit will rebrand the new clubs into mid-market gym Fitness First RED, with upscale spots adopting that banner’s BLACK status.

Fast-paced. Diversifying across boutique, big-box, and high-end segments, LifeFit owns Fitness First Germany and ELBGYM while franchising Barry’s, The Gym Society, Club Pilates, and YogaSix.

Sold to PE firm Waterland in September, LifeFit’s “buy-and-build” strategy has grown its portfolio 30% this year.

  • Bought MA Holding GmbH, adding 19 clubs and 40K members to Fitness First
  • Announced four new Club Pilates sites in Germany, building on two launched in ’23
  • Launched YogaSix’s first studio outside of America
  • Took over Buena Vista Fitnessclub’s five fitness studios, adding 10K members

Takeaway: Reaching 165 sites through the deal and eyeing 250+ clubs by 2028, LifeFit is staking its territory in Germany, across all modalities and price points.
