Oura is prompting women’s research.
What’s happening: The smart ring company is launching an AI coaching model for women’s health, covering life stages from menstruation to menopause.
Life-stage language. Built within generic health coach Advisor, Oura’s first custom model will integrate clinical research with biometric data to provide context-aware, empathetic insights spanning cycle changes, pregnancy, midlife, and more.
Coding error. 66% more likely to be misdiagnosed than men, women don’t need more bad advice. Increasingly checking symptoms via chatbot, they’re being misguided — with the top 13 LLMs demonstrating 60% failure rates for women’s health issues.
Raising standards. Oura is betting on Advisor to provide better outcomes. Recognizing the need for personalization across life stages, Oura’s chief medical officer Ricky Bloomfield, MD, said:
“This custom model is a fundamental shift in how we responsibly deploy AI in health to meet the needs of our members. Women’s health is too complex—and too often overlooked—to rely on one-size-fits-all systems.”
Looking ahead: As demand for personalized care increases and provider trust erodes, women-first search engines like Oura’s and Midi’s have a part to play in surfacing issues and determining what’s next.
