Today, brain wearable company ATLAS is opening pre-orders for a limited Pioneer Edition of The Atlas 1.0, a first-of-its-kind AI-enabled brain wearable designed to capture neural data during everyday life. The Atlas 1.0 is completely non-invasive, and contains proprietary nanotechnology that allows research grade brain activity and multi-modal data to be measured 24/7, including during motion. Recording the brain in motion with high quality is an industry first. This has allowed ATLAS to collect the world’s largest real-life brain activity dataset, with more than 500,000 brain recordings powering ATLAS’ algorithms. This is the world’s largest real-life brain activity dataset; while other brain devices are restricted to stationary situations like sleeping, meditating or coding, Atlas collected brain activity continuously while people walk, socialize, drive, speak, exercise, eat, use their phone, amongst many other human activities. By measuring brain activity in the moments that define us, the discreet behind-the-ear device helps people identify the patterns, people, and habits that drive peak performance and will significantly expand the field of neuroscience and the understanding of the human brain.

Imagine a world where data from your own mind helps you redefine what truly matters. ATLAS enables you to ask questions to better understand how your mind works: Was I really present for dinner with my family? Who makes me feel more like myself? Do I actually perform better under pressure? Why am I defining a successful run in minutes rather than stress relief? When I’m exhausted, what do I still show up for? ATLAS helps you discover what brings out the best in you everyday and enables you to become more of that person to optimize your life.

“Your brain shapes everything: the work you do, the people you love, the risks you take, and ultimately who you become,” said Ana Montero, co-founder & chief executive officer of ATLAS. “Yet most of us spend decades figuring out how ours works. For the first time some of the most important moments in a human life are becoming measurable. ATLAS gives you a map of your own mind, so you can understand what brings out the best in you, change what doesn’t, and become who you want to be.”

“ATLAS solves the engineering challenge of capturing research-grade data while in motion,” said André Marques-Smith, PhD: co-founder & chief technology officer of ATLAS. “That commitment to accuracy makes ATLAS a tool for genuine mastery and personal science, not just measurement and vanity metrics.”

How ATLAS Works

Unlike traditional wearables monitoring heart rate, steps, calories, pace and sleep, The Atlas 1.0 utilizes proprietary motion-resilient non-implantable EEG (electroencephalography, the gold standard measurement in neuroscience, also known as brain wave tracking) to record electrical brain activity while the person moves, speaks, and lives.

The Atlas 1.0 monitors three key states: Presence (where is my mind?), Stress (how much psychological pressure am I under?), and Energy Burn (how hard is my brain working), revealing how they change throughout the day to signal meaningful shifts as they happen. It connects those changes to the context of your life, such as sleep, exercise, calendar events, travel, people, places, and activities, or inputs you choose to tag.

One day’s data might be fascinating, but over time The Atlas 1.0 learns what changes your state and what helps you change course; it builds a personalized map of the habits and conditions that help you think, feel, and perform at your best. Eventually ATLAS turns months of data into a personal operating manual for understanding and growth.

ATLAS’ Origins

In 2021, neuroscientists Montero and Marques-Smith, PhD co-founded ATLAS with one conviction: to truly understand the brain, we need to be able to track it in the real world, not just laboratories and hospitals. Developed by an expert team assembled from institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, UCLA, UCSF and industry experts who significantly contributed to flagship products at Oura, Roku, Eero, Google and Amazon, The Atlas 1.0 has been benchmarked against highly complex research systems only available in a lab setting and performs with comparable quality when people are sitting still, but up to 20 times better during any kind of real-life motion. ATLAS is unlocking research-level data in real-world life, at scale, for the very first time.

Pricing & Availability

The Atlas 1.0 is available now for a limited pre-order, priced at $499. To use the device, a $29.99/month membership is required that covers ongoing nanotechnology sensor and adhesive replenishment, iOS app access, and personalized insights. This limited Pioneer Edition includes 12 months of complimentary access to the ATLAS API and MCP, unlocking integrations, research-grade EEG features, and tools to connect ATLAS data with platforms like ChatGPT and Claude.
