Capital Q ® Ventures has announced a strategic partnership with NUR, supporting the company as it builds a new category at the intersection of protein and hydration.
For decades, the protein industry has been designing products for a world that only exists inside the four walls of a gym. It is a category built on shaker bottles, clumpy powders, and a “more is more” philosophy that prioritizes massive protein counts over actual human physiology.
But for a growing demographic of high performers, the traditional supplement aisle has become a relic.
These are health-conscious consumers who have outgrown the “meathead” culture and the heavy, milky bloat of traditional shakes, yet still face a fundamental gap in their daily nutrition.
This is where Lucy Geppert and Carolin Springborn saw an opportunity. Not just to launch another product, but to build an entirely new category: functional hydration.
NUR was born from the premise that real food should anchor your nutrition. The founders realized that the most effective way to deliver protein isn’t as a meal replacement, but as a bridge.
After a workout or during a back-to-back workday, your body doesn’t necessarily need a 30g protein shake. It needs to rehydrate and bridge the gap to your next real meal.
NUR’s approach, 10g of high-bioavailability protein combined with electrolytes, is designed for that exact moment.
At the center of this approach is fermented Beta-Lactoglobulin (BLG). By choosing this high-purity protein, the primary protein found in whey, over traditional whey isolates, NUR is signaling a shift in how nutrition brands think about formulation.
Unlike standard proteins that result in thick, heavy textures, BLG is highly soluble and efficiently absorbed, allowing protein to behave more like water. Clear, refreshing, and easy to integrate into a daily routine.
Because BLG is naturally rich in essential amino acids like leucine, it delivers meaningful nutritional value without the heaviness typically associated with protein consumption.
For NUR, this isn’t just an ingredient decision. It’s a format decision.
The company was built from personal frustration. Geppert, a finance-driven entrepreneur with a background in business restructuring, and Springborn, a producer rooted in audience psychology and storytelling, moved to the U.S. and found a market that didn’t meet their standards for ingredients, digestion, or usability.
BLG wasn’t a trend they spotted. It was the answer to a problem they had been living with.
Together, they recognized that the gap in the market wasn’t just about better ingredients. It was about rethinking the format entirely, and the culture that surrounds it.
At this stage, category creation looks less like traditional retail expansion and more like disciplined, community-first growth. NUR is building across Amazon, DTC, and creator-led channels, focusing on habit formation rather than shelf space.
The goal is not to ask consumers to change their behavior to fit a supplement. It is to fix the category so it fits the way people already live.
With backing from Capital Q® Ventures, the company is accelerating that vision, positioning protein not as a standalone product, but as a seamless part of everyday life.
