Elysium Health, Inc.™, the leading longevity science company, today announced the launch of BALANCE™ by Elysium Health, a first-of-its-kind supplement for perimenopause and menopause support designed to address both the disruptive symptoms women experience during these major biological transitions and the long-term health effects. At the center of Balance is Basis, Elysium’s clinically proven NAD+ supplement. Newly published Elysium research on Basis demonstrated a significant, favorable increase in the ratio of estradiol to estrone (E2/E1) and improvements in some of the most disruptive menopause symptoms: hot flashes, poor sleep, and bloating. Balance combines Basis with S-equol for clinically proven hot flash and bone health support and ergothioneine for long-term health and cellular protection against oxidative stress.
Women can spend up to 10 years in the menopausal transition and roughly 40% of their lives in postmenopause. While the symptoms of menopause can be profoundly disruptive, the biological changes that occur across the transition also have longer-term health implications. The permanent decline in estradiol has widespread effects across multiple organ systems. Women also lose approximately 10% of bone mineral density on average during the menopause transition—and up to 20% in some cases. While declining estrogen is associated with increased oxidative stress and changes in the body’s antioxidant defenses. Balance was developed around this broader view: to address disruptive symptoms such as hot flashes, poor sleep, and bloating, while also supporting bone health, NAD+ biology, and cellular health through menopause and in the decades that follow.
Balance brings together three complementary components that work together to support women’s health and longevity:
- Basis (nicotinamide riboside + pterostilbene): Clinically proven to increase NAD+ levels and newly studied for menopausal symptom support. In a recently published open-label pilot trial, women experiencing menopausal symptoms reported significant improvements in hot flashes, poor sleep, and bloating after taking Basis.*
- S-equol: A soy-derived active compound that preferentially interacts with estrogen receptor beta (ERβ). Taking S-equol directly provides a consistent amount of the active compound and has been clinically shown to reduce hot flashes and support healthy bone markers.
- Ergothioneine: A putative “longevity vitamin” that the body actively transports and concentrates in cells and tissues, helping to protect against oxidative stress and support cellular health as we age.
“The Basis research began with my own experience with the supplement, and a question about whether NAD+ metabolism might play a role in the menopause transition,” said Marie Migaud, Ph.D., study co-author, longtime Elysium Health research collaborator, and Brian Metcalf Chair in Chemical Biology at The University of Western Australia. “We were encouraged to see meaningful improvements in menopausal symptoms alongside a more favorable estradiol-to-estrone ratio, suggesting an important connection between cellular metabolism and women’s health during this stage of life. Those findings opened a new area of investigation and helped provide the scientific foundation for a broader approach to supporting women through menopause. I look forward to continuing this work, including a larger, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial that can further clarify the role of NAD+ biology in women’s health and reproductive aging.”
The research at the foundation of the Balance formulation was published earlier this year in Frontiers in Aging. Women experiencing menopausal symptoms reported reductions of 50% or more in the frequency and severity of hot flashes, poor sleep, and bloating after seven days of Basis (NRPT) supplementation, while researchers also observed a significant increase in the ratio of estradiol (E2) to estrone (E1) in subjects with low starting E2/E1 ratios, shifting it toward a more favorable balance. Balance builds on these findings with S-equol, which has been clinically shown to reduce hot flash frequency by 58.7% compared with 34.5% for placebo, and supports healthy bone markers. Balance also includes ergothioneine, a rare dietary antioxidant that helps protect cells from oxidative stress and has also been clinically studied for sleep support. Together, the ingredients reflect a broader approach to menopause that addresses both disruptive symptoms and important aspects of long-term health.
“Menopause is much more than a collection of symptoms—it is a whole-body biological transition that influences women’s health for decades,” said Elysium VP of Product Development Lynne Chang, Ph.D. “We developed Balance to reflect that reality. It combines targeted, clinically studied support for some of the symptoms that most affect women’s daily lives with ingredients selected to support long-term health. It’s an approach that balances the need for symptom relief with support for lifelong health—bringing Elysium’s broader perspective on longevity science to one of the most consequential biological transitions in a woman’s life.”
Balance officially launches to the public on October 18, 2026—World Menopause Day—and will be available for purchase at elysiumhealth.com. With the launch of Balance, the publication of the company’s menopause research, plans to build on the findings of the pilot study through future clinical research, including a larger randomized, placebo-controlled trial, and the recent addition of reproductive-aging expert Yousin Suh, Ph.D., to its renowned Scientific Advisory Board, Elysium continues to strengthen its scientific foundation for advancing women’s health and our collective understanding of reproductive aging.

*Based on self-reported changes in symptoms before/after NRPT supplementation in 32 women experiencing pre/postmenopausal symptoms. As an open-label, single-arm study, results may partly reflect natural fluctuation or other factors unrelated to NRPT, such as diet, physical activity, and lifestyle choices.
