Kalos, the body composition company that pairs DEXA scanning with human coaching, today announced it has raised $2 million in seed funding. The round was anchored by the Scrum Sports & Entertainment Fund, with participation from IKJ Capital, Tonic Ventures and a group of strategic angel investors. The capital will be used to expand Kalos beyond the Bay Area and to accelerate its digital coaching infrastructure.
The longevity industry has never been more accessible. Consumers can now directly buy blood panels, biological age tests, wearables and full-body scans, but most solutions still fail to close the loop back into behavior change. The result is a market rich in measurement, but poor in proof that any of it is working.
Kalos was built to close that loop. Members are scanned on DEXA machines, given a training and nutrition program built from their scan, and then rescanned every four to eight weeks. Programming is iteratively adjusted based on results. Performance analysts with consulting or quantitative backgrounds run the scans, interpret the results, and design the protocols, adding human-in-the-loop accountability.
The results so far speak for themself. Across 2,000 individuals of roughly 50/50 men/women split, every cohort at Kalos has lost fat, gained muscle, and lost visceral fat on average. All cohorts showed continued improvement across all metrics from months 1 to 6 and again from months 6 to 12. Founded in 2024, the company has run more than 5,000 closed-loop experiments (scan-experiment-rescan) across 4 Bay Area locations.
“There’s not much value in data in itself,” said co-founder & CEO Harsh Sinha. “Doing one DEXA scan or blood panel can show you some helpful numbers. But the real way you deliver value for customers is to test for the delta between scans. People care 100x more about improving their health vs. just measuring it. Our entire company is built around that thesis.”
“GLP-1s, peptides, and supplements have only increased the value of prevention-based behavior change,” said co-founder Callum Parker. “The future of healthcare will blend treatment-based medication with prevention-based behavior change. Kalos is building the infrastructure to scale that vision across the country.”
The round will fund expansion beyond the Bay Area, along with a member-facing dashboard and an AI-native training app that deepens the coaching relationship.
“We’re proud to partner with the Kalos team, as they continue to set a new standard for personalized health”, noted Michael Proman, Managing Director and Partner, Scrum Sports & Entertainment Fund. “Moving from data to action, Kalos provides expert-led coaching that has further democratized DEXA scans—decoding results and empowering members to realize their individual goals.”
