Nix Biosensors Closes Series A to Bring Hydration Data to Consumer Health Platforms

Funding fuels Nix’s next phase of growth, including the development of Nix Health – proprietary hydration algorithms built on the most comprehensive real-world hydration dataset ever assembled.

Boston, MA / Sep 15, 2026 / Nix Biosensors

Nix Biosensors, the leading provider of real-time hydration monitoring technology, today announced the close of its $10M Series A, bringing total funding to date to $17 million. Investors include Shorewind Capital, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Oregon Sports Angels, and White Road Investments, the family office of the founders of CLIF Bar. The round also includes participation from Anne Wojcicki, Founder and CEO of 23andMe; Len Blavatnik, owner of Warner Music Group; and owners of the St. Louis Blues, Boston Celtics, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Legacy FC, and the Texas Rangers, among others.

The investment represents a powerful validation of what Nix has already built: proven sweat-sensing technology, trusted adoption across elite sports, military, labor, and consumer markets, and a uniquely valuable dataset built from real-world use. By measuring how individuals lose fluids and electrolytes across diverse activities and conditions, Nix has created the foundation for truly personalized hydration intelligence.

The funding will fuel Nix’s next phase of growth across product development, data science, and market expansion. Central to that growth is the company’s current development of Nix Health, a proprietary algorithmic hydration intelligence solution. This new innovation is built on Nix’s user-driven sweat data which is believed to be the most comprehensive field-based hydration dataset, collected across collegiate and professional sports organizations, military units, and labor environments. Without requiring a sweat sensor, Nix Health is designed for direct license into existing fitness and consumer health platforms, embedding years of validated hydration science directly into the platforms millions of people already rely on for their health and fitness

Bringing the Nix Health hydration algorithm to consumer platforms is among the most significant growth priority this funding unlocks. Rather than requiring users to adopt a new device, this approach embeds Nix’s science directly into the platforms and products they already trust, dramatically expanding the reach of real-world hydration data. The funding also enables Nix to deepen the capabilities of its existing platform through the exploration of additional biomarkers detectable in sweat, among them lactate, cortisol, glucose, Vitamin D, testosterone, and estrogen. Each represents a new dimension of real-time health intelligence that Nix is uniquely positioned to surface non-invasively, and is rooted in the company’s conviction that sweat is one of the most underutilized sources of health data available.

“Emerging research is drawing a direct line between proper hydration and some of the most important health metrics we care about, from acute illness prevention to chronic disease risk reduction to longevity,” said Meridith Cass, Nix CEO and Founder. “The science is pointing to hydration as a health metric on par with sleep in terms of its far-reaching impact on long-term health. Unlike sleep, however, hydration is immediately actionable. That combination of data actionability and better health outcomes is quickly rendering hydration data one of the most valuable health metrics for existing fitness and consumer health platforms. This funding allows us to bring hydration intelligence to those mass-market health platforms.”

“What attracted us to Nix was the combination of proven technology and a real-world dataset that would be extraordinarily difficult to recreate,” said Nick Fragnito, Founding Partner at Shorewind Capital. “Nix has spent years deploying its platform across sports, military and labor, and understanding exactly how human physiology and human performance respond in a wide range of environments. That gives the company a unique foundation for building the next generation of personalized hydration intelligence for the masses that couldn’t be accomplished in a lab.”

The timing of the raise reflects a broader shift in how the health and wellness industry understands hydration. Once treated as a basic performance variable, hydration is increasingly recognized as a foundational driver of longevity, cognitive health, and metabolic function, supported by a growing body of peer-reviewed research. At the same time, a warming world is compressing the margin between adequate and inadequate hydration for athletes, outdoor workers, and everyday consumers alike. The global hydration market is expanding rapidly as a result, and personalized, data-driven hydration intelligence is emerging as one of the most consequential frontiers in consumer health. Nix is positioned at the center of that shift, with the scientific credibility, the proprietary data, and the platform infrastructure to lead it.
