Paragon Studio Founder Attempts London’s First Sauna Marathon

On 19 September, Edward Thomas, founder of design-led wellness brand Paragon Studio, will attempt London’s first Sauna Marathon, running 50km across the capital and visiting 26 sauna venues in a single day.

Beginning at 6am at Revive Recovery in Wandsworth and finishing at HotDrop in Battersea at around 7pm, the route is longer than a traditional marathon, making it an ultra-marathon. At each stop, Edward will shower and sauna before continuing entirely on foot, completing the challenge in approximately 13 hours.

Edward will be joined for the full route by two friends: experienced ultra-marathon runner and global adventurer Rupert Bendell, who recently completed a 100km race, and Sam Palmano, director of Opposite Land Productions and a previous London Marathon finisher. Sam will take on the additional challenge of running the entire route while filming the accompanying documentary.

The Sauna Marathon will raise funds for Sauna Aid, a volunteer-led charity providing mobile sauna facilities and support services to communities affected by natural and man-made disasters. The challenge has already raised £3,000 towards a target of more than £5,000.

The documentary will capture the independent operators, venues and communities behind London’s growing sauna culture. Having founded Wednesday Sauna Club in 2024, Edward can also speak to the resurgence of communal wellness, the role sauna spaces are playing in bringing people together, and the growing interest in heat exposure and recovery.
