Petal Now Shipping Its Wearable Built Specifically for Women’s Physiology

Today, Petal announced that its wearable built specifically for women’s physiology is now shipping across the U.S. Designed as a discreet bra insert, Petal introduces a unique form factor for personal health tracking.
Most wearables measure the body from the wrist or finger. Petal takes a different approach, placing its sensors close to the female anatomical core to capture physiological signals directly from the chest.
Petal combines ECG and bioimpedance sensing with its placement on the chest to measure signals that go beyond what most everyday wearables capture today. A key differentiator is visceral fat tracking, giving women a way to follow changes in this important body composition metric as part of everyday health monitoring. Petal is also actively developing hydration tracking, analyzing changes in breast tissue composition to understand hydration status and support future cycle-related insights. Beyond its form factor, Petal’s algorithms and AI are developed solely around women’s data, informed by published research and data from the company’s own clinical studies.
“For too long, women have been using technology built on male-derived baselines, and that disparity continues to be vast,” said Anand Janefalkar, CEO and founder of Petal. “After losing a loved one to breast cancer at a young age, that gap became deeply personal to me. We built Petal to focus on the health signals that matter most, using the female anatomical core to give women a more relevant view of their health. Health tech shouldn’t be about metric maxxing. It should be built for women from the start.”
Petal’s broader vision spans both consumer wellness and clinical health. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women in the U.S., while breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death among women. Beyond its everyday wearable, Petal is developing future clinical applications aimed at the early detection of cardiac anomalies and breast cancer, using longitudinal data to identify meaningful changes earlier.
