RecNet Launches to Make Adult Recreational Sports Easier to Discover Across Chicagoland

RecNet, a new platform designed to help adults discover local recreational sports, has officially launched at therecnet.com.

Built for adults who want to stay active, meet people, and find more opportunities to play, RecNet brings local leagues, drop-ins, tournaments, open gyms, clubs, and other recreational sports activities into one searchable platform.

RecNet is currently focused on Chicagoland, where adult sports opportunities are often spread across individual websites, social media pages, registration platforms, and community groups. The platform is designed to make those opportunities easier to find while helping organizers reach more participants.

“Adult recreational sports are everywhere, but finding the right game can still take a surprising amount of work,” said Brittney Tewksbury, founder of RecNet. “RecNet was created to make discovery simpler, help organizers gain visibility, and make it easier for more adults to stay connected through sports.”

The idea for RecNet grew out of Tewksbury’s experience founding FCC Sports Club, an adult basketball and volleyball community serving Chicago’s northwest suburbs. While growing the club, she saw how difficult it could be for players to discover programs outside of their immediate networks—and how challenging it was for organizers to consistently reach new participants.

RecNet allows athletes to browse opportunities by sport, location, date, skill level, format, and other preferences. Users can also save sessions, follow organizers, and discover leagues and events that fit their schedules and interests.

For organizers, RecNet offers a way to showcase programs, manage their presence, and reach adults actively looking for ways to play. The platform is working with local leagues, facilities, park districts, clubs, and independent sports organizers as it continues expanding its directory.

The RecNet website is currently live, and a mobile app is in development. The planned app will make it even easier for athletes to discover nearby opportunities, save activities, follow organizers, and receive updates about sports they care about.

RecNet currently features hundreds of adult recreational sports opportunities across Chicagoland and continues to add new organizers, locations, and activities.
