Running Mate Launches the Running Mate Collective and First-ever Runner Safety Certification

Atlanta, GA / Jun 2, 2025 / running mate

Running Mate, the pioneering runshare platform committed to ending violence, harassment, and assault against female runners, proudly launches the Running Mate Collective—a national movement uniting runners, allies, and organizations to create safer running communities across the country.

Founded by Dena Lewis, a runner and survivor of two assaults while running, Running Mate was born from a desire to reclaim safety and community for women on the run. With the launch of the Collective, Running Mate is expanding its mission beyond the app—activating a grassroots coalition of safety advocates, certified runners, coaches, and clubs to raise awareness, drive culture change, and provide education and support.

The Running Mate Collective offers:

  • Access to exclusive safety certifications and educational content
  • Monthly calls and community events featuring self-defense experts, physical therapists, and coaches
  • Discounts on partner products, including the Safely Sidekick and nutrition resources
  • Volunteer opportunities and leadership roles to activate local communities
  • A clear, united voice for female runners across the U.S.

Membership tiers start at $10/month, with the option to include free verified runs through the Running Mate app.

The launch of the Collective also coincides with the debut of the Runner Safety Certification, developed in partnership with The Paratus Group, giving runners the training and tools to prevent, prepare for, and protect themselves in real-world situations.
