The Athletic Clubs to Open Financial District Athletic on March 2, Expanding to Seventh NYC Location

New York City, NY / Feb 20, 2026 / The Athletic Clubs

The Athletic Clubs will open Financial District Athletic on March 2 at 151 William Street, expanding its footprint with a 5,000-square-foot training facility in Lower Manhattan and marking the brand’s seventh New York City location.

The new Lower Manhattan club expands on four years of steady growth across six existing locations — West Village, Greenwich Village, Williamsburg, Meatpacking, Flatiron and the Lower East Side — where more than 2,000 members train in fixed-time, 20-person squads.

Rather than rotating class formats or relying on large-scale events for engagement, The AC operates on a consistent structure: members train with the same group twice per week, building accountability, familiarity and neighborhood identity over time. That repetition has driven strong retention and a community that extends beyond workouts into social life.

Recent milestones underscore the brand’s cultural traction. More than 500 members filled two nightlife venues for its annual Halloween celebration, and 600 gathered this winter at Capitale for a black-tie Winter Gala.

“We’re expanding a system that works,” says founder Dane McCarthy. “People aren’t just looking for access to fitness. They’re looking for consistency and connection.”

With Financial District Athletic opening March 2, The AC continues to position itself at the forefront of New York’s growing social fitness movement.
