Virgin Active has officially reopened its Mayfair Club as the brand’s first Social Wellness Club in the UK, introducing a new kind of Club built around how people actually live, work and train.
The relaunch marks a major milestone for the global wellness brand, which operates 224 Clubs across nine countries and serves more than one million members worldwide. With Mayfair, Virgin Active brings its most complete Club concept to London for the first time – moving beyond the traditional gym model to create a space where training, recovery, nutrition, work and community are fully integrated by design.
Already proven in cities including Milan, Cape Town, Sydney and Doha, the Social Wellness Club concept reflects a broader shift in how people approach health – not as something separate from daily life, but as something that actively supports it.
Elena Chambers, Country Director at Virgin Active UK, said: “The new look Mayfair Club is a complete reimagining of what wellness can look like and a clear statement of where Virgin Active is heading. People no longer want wellness to sit around their lives – they want it to support how they actually live. That’s exactly what this space has been designed to do.”
At the core of the Club is a premium training offer, with five dedicated studios – including Combat, Lift Club, Mind & Body, Reformer and Tower Pilates – alongside a 1:1 Pilates suite, expert-led personal training and a fully equipped gym floor.
Around that foundation, the Club expands into a more holistic, connected experience, supporting members throughout their day. Facilities include:
- A contrast spa featuring Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, cold plunge, vitality pool and a 20m indoor pool
- A dedicated recovery zone with heated hydromassage beds and Hyperice technology
- Longevity treatment rooms with on-site physiotherapists, osteopaths and performance specialists
- Kauai Café, offering considered, protein-rich nutrition throughout the day
- Co-working lounges, private meeting rooms and call booths for flexible working
- A dedicated concierge team, supporting everything from bookings to day-to-day needs
Every element of the Club has been designed to work together – from training and recovery to focus and relaxation – creating a seamless, all-day experience that members can move through naturally.
Rob Lewis, Experience Director at Virgin Active, added: “This is a fundamental shift in what a Club can offer. Virgin Active Mayfair has been built around how our members actually live – bringing together training, recovery, work and community in one place. It’s about removing friction and creating a space people can rely on every day.”
The reopening of Mayfair also signals the next phase of Virgin Active’s investment in its UK portfolio. Following £12.2 million invested across 2024–2025, a further £55.6 million is planned across 2026 and 2027 as the brand continues to evolve its estate and member experience.
A rolling programme of events, brand collaborations and community moments will bring the Club to life throughout the year, positioning Mayfair as both a wellness destination and a social hub in the heart of London.
