Leaders of CrossFit, Sweetgreen, Thrive Market, Athletic Greens, Momentous, Pendulum, and Plunge are joining the movement for a healthcare system that incentivizes healthy food, exercise, and other root-cause actions to reverse chronic conditions.

Austin, TX / Jun 28, 2024 / End Chronic Disease

Leaders of CrossFit, Sweetgreen, Thrive Market, Athletic Greens, Momentous, Pendulum, Plunge and dozens of other health and wellness companies are joining together to an advocacy group to share stories of how Americans are using healthy food, exercise and other root cause actions to reverse chronic conditions.

The chronic disease crisis is an economic and national security emergency. 9 out of 10 American deaths and 95% of medical costs are tied to preventable chronic diseases. Nearly 80% of young adults are overweight or obese, and 40% of 18-year-olds meet the criteria for a mental health disorder. 77% of young adults don’t qualify for the military based on their health scores.

This coalition is collecting stories of Americans who used exercise, supplements, and healthy food to reverse chronic disease. We’re using these stories to educate and advocate leaders to steer more medical dollars to these interventions that reverse disease and save lives. Stories can be submitted at EndChronicDisease.org

The key message of End Chronic Disease is simple: Americans are entitled to choice in where their healthcare dollars go – and that choice should include medically incentivized food and exercise interventions.

“When it comes to reversing chronic disease, we must follow the science. Exercise is medicine. Supplements are medicine. Food is medicine. Cold plunging is medicine. Metabolic Habits are medicine.” said Calley Means, co-founder of the organization and Truemed. “These metabolic habits are often the most effective interventions to reverse conditions like depression and heart disease – but medical incentives only pay for antidepressants and statins. There is a path of thriving for America – and that path is incentivizing items that actually reverse disease.”

End Chronic Disease, funded with funding through a bi-partisan group of leaders, will:

  • Educate lawmakers by sharing stories of American patients who have reversed their chronic conditions through root cause, non-pharmaceutical interventions. The organization is currently engaged in conversation with dozens of Congressional members.
  • Draft bills and executive orders to incentivize food, exercise and supplements as medical interventions. We are focused on areas like HSA expansion, SNAP reform, and food-as-medicine research
  • Advocate for change by joining our voices together to support specific bills and regulatory actions
