Rec is building the park OS.
What’s happening: The recreation software company raised $11M in a Series A led by Crosslink Capital, with participation from athletes Kevin Durant, Larry Fitzgerald, and others.
Court control. Serving 50 communities in 12 states, Rec’s mobile-first platform connects parks & rec departments with residents, coaches, and city staff to organize and manage local activities — from 5K races and pickleball court reservations to swimming lessons.
Recreation’s rise. And as social sports surge, rec OS’s are going big — LeagueApps and TeamLinkt scored funds to support youth leagues, Volo Sports acquired adult sports rival ZogSports, and Clubessential scooped up RecDesk equips recreation orgs.
Meanwhile, Break the Love and Spain-born Playtomic are squaring off in racket sports.
Takeaway: Recreation is a public good. Bringing modern infrastructure to a historically understaffed and underutilized industry is a must.
