In this Q&A, we hear from Chris Mirabile, founder and CEO of NOVOS, creator of anti-aging nutraceuticals. A brain tumor survivor, Chris is on a mission to identify and treat the root causes of aging. Leveraging AI and personalized supplements, NOVOS plans to expand longevity medicine beyond biohackers.

Tell us about NOVOS.

Chris Mirabile: NOVOS is a longevity biotech company focused on the consumer. We develop science-backed nutraceuticals and provide biological age tests and free resources to slow the pace of aging and help people live healthier, longer lives.

Our flagship product, NOVOS Core, is the first supplement that directly targets all 12 major hallmarks of aging simultaneously, with a patent-pending formula of 13 ingredients that we believe is the most scientifically validated and powerful longevity formula available.

We’ve subsequently added two additional supplement offerings to our lineup: NOVOS Boost, a NMN product for increasing NAD+ levels, and NOVOS Vital, a daily supplement chew optimizing seven critical organs.

NOVOS is built on scientific validation and transparency, choosing ingredients backed by over 500 studies and recommended by top aging researchers. As a certified Public Benefit Corporation, it’s a top priority for us to also offer complimentary resources alongside our product line. We’ve recently expanded into the tech category with our dermatologist-approved feature FaceAge, which analyzes users’ facial pace of aging, and our free longevity companion app NOVOS Life, which includes an AI-powered biological age test and personalized recommendations.

As NOVOS has grown, we’ve transitioned from a supplement company to a comprehensive resource and educational platform for all people, at any life stage, looking to prioritize long-term health.

What led you to pursue this opportunity?

CM: The impetus for NOVOS came from my personal experience of being diagnosed with—and ultimately cured of—a brain tumor at age 16. Though I’d been interested in health and fitness for a few years already, this forced me to reevaluate my approach toward wellness and shift my focus to longevity and disease avoidance.

I quickly saw through the wellness world’s quick fixes and promises of aesthetic results, coming to understand true investment in health is a lifelong pursuit that starts at the cellular level.

Diving into the literature, I learned that aging is the number-one cause of chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and cognitive decline.

I believed if we could decode the biological root causes of aging and create lasting, accessible interventions to combat them, we could work toward mitigating many of these health conditions.

How did you turn your idea into a company?

CM: While I knew a lot about health and nutrition from my lifestyle, for NOVOS, I was planning something far more complex and scientific than a typical supplement.

I saw the opportunity to create a consumer longevity biotech that used strict research standards and cutting-edge science to design, patent, and validate the most powerful, natural, and safe longevity supplements ever created.

To do this, I brought on the top scientific minds in the field, from Harvard Medical School, MIT, and other institutions. Together, we laid the groundwork for our formulations, our research studies, and the company as a whole.

Our approach was not typical, which may have contributed to early success with our first two products. Inventory we thought would last six months sold out in just one week, and investors started approaching us to learn more about our novel approach and vision.

Since then, we have grown rapidly, selling more than 10M doses and receiving thousands of five-star reviews.

How big can this get?

CM: The supplement industry is wildly oversaturated and overly dependent on marketing claims rather than science-backed, trustworthy ingredients. With consumers eager for trusted brands, we lead with data and provide as much education around healthspan as possible alongside our products.

By being the first to address longevity from the fundamental mechanisms of aging, we believe we’re pioneering a new category that sits somewhere between supplements (since we use natural OTC ingredients) and prescriptions (since we scientifically validate our formulas).

Proving the point, in human case studies, NOVOS Core was found to slow the pace of aging in the vast majority of participants, as well as increase lifespan in aged mice more than any supplement ever tested, even outperforming popular NAD+ supplements like NR (nicotinamide riboside).

It’s difficult to predict the size of the market, but we believe that it’s without limitation — everyone ages and has a desire to slow it down or prevent its side effects. We have the most powerful and holistic solutions on the market to empower people to do so, without sacrificing their quality of life.

How do you reach your core customer?

CM: We’re passionate about appealing to everyone, ranging from the seasoned health enthusiast to those looking to establish a new routine.

In fact, some of our community members who have seen the most success in altering their pace of aging don’t fit the typical biohacker profile. They’re single mothers or grandparents who don’t spend huge amounts of money on the latest healthtech gadget.

In 2024, we placed a lot of emphasis on aligning NOVOS with our target demographics through collaborations with some of the most recognized names in the health space, including our first retail partnership with Erewhon and in-gym sales at Equinox.

What’s next on the roadmap?

CM: Over the course of this year, we’re looking forward to further expanding our product line.

We’re also particularly excited about our use of AI to provide customized health and wellness recommendations to our users. Our app NOVOS Life, with its AI-powered feedback and chatbot, will become increasingly integrated with our other offerings, including FaceAge and our blood-based biological age test NOVOS Age, which includes a newly launched organ age feature.

The goal is to create a closed-loop system where we’re not just providing data but insights that help users act on that data and better their lives.

Anything else you’d like to share with readers?

CM: Longevity has become a buzzword in our industry, with many associating the word with “tech bros” who are trying to live forever.

At NOVOS, we’re less concerned with reaching a specific chronological age benchmark and care more about making our present and later years full of energy and vitality, using the time we have to pursue passions and create lasting memories with our loved ones.
