Health data is getting more personal — and more scrutinized.

WHOOP scores a win with the FDA

The agency dropped its warning letter over WHOOP’s Blood Pressure Insights feature after the company made changes necessary for wellness devices.

  • The dispute started last year when the FDA argued blood pressure measurements crossed into medical device territory.
  • WHOOP pushed back, saying consumers should have access to their own health data and that the feature wasn’t intended to diagnose or treat disease.
  • Now, the FDA says it doesn’t plan to enforce device requirements on the updated version of the feature.

A regulatory turning point, the move paves the way for wearables to add more advanced health metrics for consumers — without triggering a drawn-out medical review.

Xella Health rebuilds diagnostics around female biology

The startup launched a multi-omic platform that combines genomics, proteins, hormones, symptoms, and lifestyle data to assess risk across 130+ conditions affecting women.

  • Already in demand, the company says it’s already built a waitlist of 15K women after raising a $3.7M pre-seed round.
  • The platform addresses conditions like endometriosis, autoimmune disorders, and heart disease that traditional healthcare systems frequently misdiagnose or miss.

Equipping women with contextualized data, Xella is betting that better diagnostics can shorten that timeline and help women take action sooner.

The workplace wellness gap widens

A new EGYM Wellpass survey highlights the cost and opportunity for US companies to enforce better health for employees. The findings include:

  • On activity: 76% of employees exercise weekly, yet 66% say their jobs contribute to sedentary behavior.
  • On performance: Nearly half cited stress and mental fatigue as their biggest challenge, while 40% say health issues negatively affect their performance at work.
  • On retention: More than six in ten respondents said workplace wellness influences whether they stay with an employer.

As competition for talent continues, company culture, flexibility, and employee well-being are tied to retention.
