The future of healthcare is fewer appointments and better outcomes.

Prevention Could Become Healthcare’s Highest-Return Investment

A new World Economic Forum report argues that three relatively simple interventions could save healthcare systems more than $5.8T by 2040: fall-proofing homes, increasing physical activity, and expanding access to hearing aids.

  • Rather than relying on breakthrough technologies, the report focuses on practical, scalable interventions that reduce downstream medical costs and help people remain healthier and economically productive for longer.
  • It also reframes longevity as an economic opportunity instead of simply a demographic or ageing challenge.

For employers, insurers, healthcare providers, and consumer health companies, prevention is creating new opportunities to improve outcomes while lowering the total cost of care.

Gen Z Isn’t Abandoning Alcohol

For years, conventional wisdom suggested Gen Z would permanently reshape the alcohol industry by drinking less than previous generations. But new research from IWSR tells a different story.

  • Today, 74% of legal-age Gen Z consumers drink alcohol, nearly matching the 76% participation rate across the overall adult population.
  • At the same time, consumers across every generation are drinking less frequently and consuming fewer drinks per occasion.

Instead of walking away from alcohol, younger consumers are redefining how they engage with it—favoring RTD cocktails, premium experiences, and beverages that better fit health-conscious lifestyles.

For alcohol brands, the opportunity isn’t replacing lost demand. It’s building products that align with evolving consumer preferences around moderation, convenience, and wellness.

Doctronic Expands Into Pediatric Primary Care

AI-enabled primary care platform Doctronic acquired pediatric telehealth company Summer Health, extending its platform to serve patients from birth through adulthood.

The acquisition adds more than 100K pediatric text conversations, giving Doctronic a proprietary dataset to train pediatric-specific AI models while expanding its clinical offering for families.

As AI-native care platforms mature, the companies that own data, workflows, and trusted patient interactions across multiple stages of life will become healthcare’s new front door.
