Pilates Tops Global Fitness Trends

Low-impact era.

ClassPass’s annual report highlighted a 36% YoY rise in fitness bookings and 37% increase in self-care sessions, fueled by Pilates, holistic recovery, and functional training.

Reformation. For the third consecutive year, Pilates topped the charts. Reservations jumped 66%, with Reformer and athletic formats leading the way. Reaching fever pitch, it’s the most-searched, most-trialed, and most-rebooked workout on the platform — with 15M bookings worldwide.

Market movers. Yoga, strength training, cycling, and barre rounded out the top five, but new hybrid routines threaten to unseat the old guard — HYROX classes skyrocketed 432%, and low-impact training entered the top 10.

Blurring workouts and wellness, sports recovery is the fastest-growing class (+155%) and is scaling 1.5x as a treatment, bolstered by stretching and cupping.

Team game. Younger generations are rallying around team sports, with racquet activities up over 200% in North America. Pickleball bookings jumped 750% in the US and 1,100% in the APAC region.

First blush. Massage and nails remained top self-care appointments, but—as wellness and beauty converge—cosmetic treatments rose 91% YoY.

Looking ahead: For younger users futureproofing their bodies to older members turning back the clock, fitness and self-care are shifting toward functional, efficient, and communal pursuits.
