Kohler is thinking beyond the bowl.
What’s happening: The kitchen and bath brand launched a digital health division and debuted Dekoda, a smart toilet sensor decoding gut health and hydration.
Passing data. Using optical sensors, Dekoda analyzes human waste for stool consistency, dehydration, and traces of blood. App-synced, it delivers longitudinal insights and personalized diet and fitness recommendations.
Healthy home. Reframing the bathroom as the “center of health and wellness,” Kohler’s well-being portfolio extends across the entire home, from KLAFS luxury saunas and Anthem cold shower features to a Remedy Place co-branded cold plunge.
Toilet wars. Destigmatizing gut health through invisible diagnostics, the smart toilet wars are heating up —with Throne raising $4M and Withings adding U-Scan nutritional analysis. Making moves, Vivoo and TOTO smart devices will soon hit the market.
Looking ahead: As diagnostics become more advanced and less intrusive, every surface could get a sensor. Toilet tech is still an emerging category, but Kohler has the porcelain and platform to bring it home.
