The Goods Mart is headed to Brooklyn.
What’s happening: The better-for-you convenience store opened a flagship in South Williamsburg.
Snacking. Ahead of the curve, The Goods Mart launched in 2018, prioritizing healthy and convenient snacking with storefronts, newsstands, and partnerships with hotels, offices, and events.
But, after closing its LA site in 2020 and SoHo NYC last October, it’s revamping the bodega model with a new highly curated offering — stocking CPG brands like Khloud, Loonen, Date Better, and Hot Girl Pickles, as well as grab-and-go items from Jon & Vinny’s x Canyon Coffee and Isle of Us.
Long haul. While luxe grocers now signal status, most consumers aren’t shopping for their weekly restock. With consumers using disposable income for impulsive grocery splurges, The Goods Mart is investing in discovery and “treat culture” for its evolving assortment of snacks and beverages.
Competing with similar concepts Pop Up Grocer and The Shelf, The Goods Mart will expand its reach with nationwide shipping and in-store community events.
Punchline: A discovery platform for healthy snacking, The Goods Mart is building its own model by scaling better-for-you brands.
