The Workplace Wellness Gap Widens

Employees feel stuck.

What’s happening: A new EGYM Wellpass report found 76% of US employees exercise weekly, yet 66% say their jobs increase sedentary behavior.

Move it. American workers are physically active outside the office, but long hours indoors, tethered to desks and screens, offset those gains. Counterproductive, typical workplace routines are undermining how employees want to live their lives.

Pain point. Nearly half of workers cite stress and mental fatigue as their biggest challenge, while 40% say health issues impact job performance. A weakness of standard benefits, workers need a reset, but most companies overlook recovery.

Top-down. An organizational imperative, employees say flexibility, leadership, and company culture influence well-being. More than six in 10 say workplace wellness affects their decision to stay with an employer.

Punchline: Wellness is no longer a perk — it’s a competitive advantage. To attract and retain top talent, companies must embed a health culture that reaches every employee, team, and touchpoint.
