Wellness Resorts Bet on Women’s Health

Creating space.

Canyon Ranch is helping women get away.

What’s happening: The luxury wellness resort will open a female-focused outpost near Austin, Texas next fall.

Purpose-built. Its third location, the 600-acre resort puts women’s wellness at the forefront — building on its peri-/menopause program with a specialty clinic addressing the evolving needs of women 30+, from everyday sleep and nutrition to postpartum depression.

Although not exclusively for women, with two-thirds of guests female, Canyon Ranch sees Austin as an opportunity for tailored care. Creating treatment-specific meccas, its Tucson property is designated as a longevity hub and Lenox, MA as a burnout retreat.

New horizon. 64% of global travelers are female, and 40% express interest in traveling solo. With 1B+ women worldwide experiencing menopause, hotels are rethinking hospitality for an underserved yet highly motivated population.

Going big, SHA Wellness launched a multi-disciplinary women’s health unit, while Six Senses tapped expert Dr. Mindy Pelz to oversee perimenopausal care. Demystifying “the change,” Kamalaya and Ananda resorts are taking an East-meets-West approach to manage symptoms.

Punchline: Countering midlife with luxe treatments and faraway stays, the next iteration of wellness travel is built for women.
