Autoimmunes are under new management.

What’s happening: WellTheory, a whole-person care platform for autoimmune disease, closed a $5M round and unveiled AI features for providers and their patients.

Long time coming. ~50M Americans suffer from an autoimmune disorder, where the immune system attacks healthy tissue, carrying a $180B burden in direct healthcare costs annually.

Yet, with over 100 different types, a diagnosis takes an average of 4.5 years, often leaving people to deal with effects of rheumatoid arthritis, MS, lupus, and more on their own.

Born from its founder’s struggle, WellTheory seeks out the root causes to improve quality of life.

The theory. Using advanced diagnostics and personalized lifestyle coaching, WellTheory thinks beyond the prescription pad — with patients reporting relief from digestive issues, pain, poor sleep, and depression.

Outcomes-driven, since launching its B2B division last year, WellTheory has tripled YoY revenue while delivering ~$9.4K in cost savings per patient to employers.

Fast-tracking treatment, WellTheory’s new AI scribe and care coordination hub for providers aggregates lab work, symptom history, and intervention timing to optimize results.

Looking ahead: Autoimmune cases are complex, making every step of the process time-consuming and difficult. As biotech firms pursue new therapies, WellTheory is delivering relief.
