Othership is opening new doors.
What’s happening: The social wellness club closed an $8.5M SAFE note, adding strategic funding from Rocana Ventures, Vine Ventures, and others for NYC expansion. According to CEO Robbie Bent, other outlets misstated the investment as $11.3M.
Notable investors include Winklevoss Capital, Blake Mycoskie, actress Kerry Washington, NBA star Bradley Beal, and entrepreneur Devon Lévesque.
Live from NY. Building on the success of its Flatiron sauna-plunge-breathwork location, Othership’s next contrast therapy club will debut in Williamsburg this fall, followed by a ~13K-sq-ft facility, with location to be announced soon.
Going big. Twice the size of its signature offering, Othership’s fifth and largest site will feature a “bathing wing,” integrating its structured classes into more traditional bathhouse elements like steam rooms and warm pools. Going deeper, it’ll offer 1:1 emotional treatments, group classes, and free flows in a whole new amenity mix.
Speaking to Fitt Insider, Bent says it’s evolving to meet member needs:
“Flatiron customers expressed wanting to stay for 3+ hours and trying more features. We see a natural opportunity to bring emotional wellness and our class model to the traditional bathhouse.”
A complementary ecosystem, Othership will pursue up to seven NYC-area clubs, as well as retreats and enhanced digital offerings.
Takeaway: Othership is turning somatic ritual into a social movement, and taking emotional wellness beyond the sauna.
