TikTok blocks peptide searches

TikTok searches for several popular peptides, including semaglutide, BPC-157 and TB-500, are now returning “no results found” pages, according to The Verge.

  • The restrictions appear to affect search terms rather than remove existing videos.
  • Slight variations of peptide names can still surface content, and searches for “peptides” continue to return videos.
  • The change comes as peptides move into the mainstream and promotion of unapproved substances spread across social media.

TikTok’s US owner had not responded to The Verge’s request for comment at publication — but hints at a future where some supplements or pharmaceuticals could be censored.

Oura expands fitness tracking

Oura is adding Cardio Effort and VO₂ max metrics to give members a clearer picture of how workouts affect their fitness.

  • Cardio Effort measures exercise intensity and duration against a user’s personal baseline, with scores for individual workouts and cumulative weekly effort.
  • VO₂ max estimates how effectively the body uses oxygen during exercise, using data from GPS-enabled workouts.

As the smart ring maker faces more competition, Oura is moving beyond sleep and recovery to compete more directly in fitness tracking.

Orangetheory confronts closures

The fitness chain’s US footprint has declined by roughly 135 studios since the end of 2023, falling from about 1,333 locations to 1,198 by June 2026, according to Inc.

  • Rising rents, labor costs, franchise royalties and aggressive expansion have squeezed some operators, while many franchisees are facing unmet membership projections and slowed growth.
  • Meanwhile, the boutique fitness industry remains strong as consumers mix formats instead of building routines around one brand.

For Orangetheory, the challenge is finding a smaller, more profitable footprint as the economics of rapid expansion become harder to sustain.
