Evolt Raises A$20M to Scale Body Comp Tech

Evolt

Evolt knows what you’re made of.

What’s happening: Aussie body composition tech maker raised A$20M in funding as it prepares a debut on Australia’s stock exchange.

Under the hood. Using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), Evolt’s scanners deliver 40 metrics—from muscle mass and body fat percentage to biological age and SpO2—to an app in 60 seconds.

FDA and CE approved, the company conducted 2.3M scans in FY24, a 57% YoY rise. Growing in gyms, it recently struck subscription deals with EGYM, Jetts Australia, and GoodLife Canada.

Scaling up, Evolt sees its tech being used to monitor muscle and fat proportions in GLP-1 users. Already in 150 US medspas and clinics, the brand touts an unnamed “prominent telehealth provider” among its new clients.

Beyond BMI

Muscle mass and bone density are essential for strength, longevity, and medical weight loss.

Rethinking BMI, brands are making body comp tech accessible and affordable:

  • WHOOP synced Withings’ BIA smart scales to analyze body comp against biometrics.
  • Technogym launched Checkup, a smart kiosk using computer vision and BIA to measure fat mass, movement health, and biological age.
  • Restore Hyper Wellness uses InBody scanners for its GLP-1 weight loss program, while 3DLOOK white-labeled its AI-powered 3D technology for fitness apps.

Meanwhile, DEXA scans—ultra-sensitive x-ray diagnostics—are becoming a standard performance and preventative health assessment, with DexaFit and Fitnescity scaling protocols.

Takeaway: For gyms, longevity clinics, or doctor’s offices, BMI is now sub-standard. To quantify strength gains and safeguard rapid weight loss, technology like Evolt’s is in demand.
