FitLab’s shopping spree continues.
What’s happening: The integrated wellness company acquired Mile High Run Club, operator of three New York running studios.
Lacing up. Opened in 2014, MHRC’s treadmill-based interval training is deeply entrenched in the NYC fitness scene — hosting outdoor runs and social events in addition to in-studio classes.
On a run. For FitLab, adding MHRC’s community supports greater ambitions. Fresh off its acquisition of Y7 Studio, it’s unifying concepts for a complete ecosystem.
As it readies a portfolio passport, it’ll leverage local synergies, bundling Y7 classes as part of MHRC Brooklyn Half Marathon training programs.
The distance. With Xponential Fitness divesting from STRIDE and Equinox shuttering Precision Run studios, treadmill concepts have struggled to sustain the runner’s high.
But, citing running’s evolution from solo effort to social function, FitLab co-CEO Brian Kirkbride, believes in MHRC’s endurance:
“Before running’s resurgence and the rise of run clubs, Mile High had already perfected an all-weather training experience.”
Punchline: Diversifying with interconnected offerings, FitLab hopes to make MHRC more than a meetup.
