Hinge Health is a multi-specialist.

What’s happening: The digital MSK platform acquired Cylinder Health, adding GI care to its AI-powered care model.

Care collective. Founded on musculoskeletal rehab and pain management, Hinge has expanded into pelvic floor therapy and migraine care. Since its 2025 IPO, it’s doubled down using AI to automate care delivery at scale.

Gut check. With a fourth of US adults suffering from GI issues, Hinge found not only high comorbidity with conditions it already treats, but also shared treatment pathways — tapping into mechanisms of the gut-brain axis.

A strong fit, Cylinder’s clinically backed care for ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, and more has served 150K patients, combining telehealth with AI diagnostics and coaching. Formally integrating next year, Hinge aims to step in for the 69% of US counties lacking a gastroenterologist.

Looking ahead: With half of Americans managing multiple chronic conditions, specialist wait times have ticked over 30 days. Applying AI to scale access and supercharge delivery, platforms like Hinge, Sword, and Omada aim to become modern hubs for underserved conditions.
