Tonal’s 2025 State of Strength report reveals the rise of longevity-minded lifters, hybrid routines, and efficient training sessions.

Longevity-led. 80% of Tonal members train to age better, and adults 40+ report feeling more capable since joining. Boomers lead all age groups, training 37% more than Gen Z while matching younger generations in performance gains.

Hybrid-minded. Strength is the foundation, but users are layering in Pilates, mobility, and recovery. Women are driving the shift, logging 3x more Pilates, 2.8x more mobility, and 2.4x more meditation sessions since 2021. Paying dividends, female members saw 15% gains across major lifts.

Time-efficient. More than half of members train for <45 minutes, and 90% say they’ve built more strength in less time. Among those who previously cited time as their biggest barrier, 70% now train three to five times per week, with nearly one in five working out daily.

Punchline: Boomers and Gen Z work out differently, and Tonal’s userbase likely skews older. But as strength training gains intergenerational appeal, progressive and efficient formats will help make it a sustainable part of everyday life.
