Calo is cooking up smarter nutrition.

What’s happening: The Saudi-born DTC meal company landed a $39M Series B extension to push UK expansion while piloting AI-powered personalization.

Recipe for success. Combining customization with convenience, Calo delivers pre-prepped meals tailored to nutrition goals, from high protein to athlete-focused macros.

Serving 10M meals across the Middle East in 2024—mainly DTC and via hospital-based retail—it notched 50% YoY growth through H1.

Hungry for global growth, it’s scaling in the UK, where it already makes 100K deliveries per month. Acquiring rival meal platforms Fresh Fitness Food and Detox Kitchen in March, it’ll utilize local ops to fuel 10x revenue growth over the next three years.

Feeding frenzy. Mirroring integrated food platform Wonder, it’s introducing Calo Black — an AI-powered virtual chef translating customer preferences into hyper-personalized menus.

On the horizon, it’ll confront a category revived by consumer demand for healthy meals, with the UK’s Gousto bouncing back, HelloFresh pushing its fitness-focused Factor brand across Europe, and Fitbar expanding its UAE footprint.

Looking ahead: As ready-to-eat evolves, Calo isn’t just delivering convenience — it’s reshaping how consumers see the menu.
