Samsung is stacking healthy habits.

What’s happening: The South Korean technology company announced new features for Galaxy Watch, creating user feedback loops across sleep, fitness, and healthy aging.

Daily download. Launching this month in beta for US and South Korean users, Galaxy Watch’s Running Coach will analyze ability, personalize race training plans, and recommend challenges.

In sleep, Vascular Load is an overnight watchdog for cardiovascular stress, while Bedtime Guidance picks up circadian rhythm and coaches users on alignment, including integrations with Samsung IoT devices like smart lights, blinds, and thermostat.

Identifying antioxidants as a marker of healthy aging, the watch’s rear sensor will measure blood carotenoids, providing nutrition insights to improve.

Mission control. Speaking to Bloomberg, Samsung exec Dr. Hon Pak said a Galaxy Watch-led patient health portal is in the works, allowing doctors to influence behavioral nudges.

With forthcoming developments in blood pressure and glucose monitoring, and 68M Samsung Health users, it’s seeking to be a major player in global well-being.

On cue. Wearable makers are all ramping up medical-grade features, with WHOOP’s next gen taking on healthspan, Oura gaining clinical co-sign from Maven Clinic, Garmin and Happy Ring doubling down on sleep, and Ultrahuman prepping a Function Health rival.

Looking ahead: Niching down was once a selling point. Now, all wearable makers envision a Personal Health OS as the holy grail.
