Sava Lands $36M for Noninvasive Glucose Monitor

Fine-tuned.

Sava

Sava is scaling its next-gen CGM across Europe.

What’s happening: The UK-based biosensor developer raised $36M in a Series B led by Ascensia Diabetes Care to speed its affordable continuous glucose monitor to market.

Loading up. Leveling up the traditional CGM, Sava’s device features a 10x shorter microneedle, reading molecules just below the skin’s surface in real time, with less pain. Designed for mass production, its partnership with Ascensia—Swiss producer of CONTOUR devices—will unlock rapid commercialization and distribution to a 29-country network.

Blood sport. Seeking CE approval for glucose monitoring and while piloting multi-analyte sensing, Sava joins a challenger group seeking to break the near-duopoly by Abbott and Dexcom.

As incumbents gain FDA approval for monitoring ketones, lactate, and more, Biolinq, Adaptyx, Know Labs, and Liom are circling on less invasive, more telling hardware.

Punchline: Both on and off script, CGMs have shown a fraction of their potential. As multi-analyte tech speeds ahead, accessibility and integration become the new battleground.
