Urban Gym Group is on the move.
What’s happening: The Dutch fitness operator acquired London gym chain Gymbox.
Operator of TrainMore, Clubsportive, Renessence, and BTY CLB brands—plus select TRIB3 and PILAT3S sites through a franchise deal—Gymbox will be UGG’s banner outside the Netherlands.
Plotting growth, a new Gymbox flagship is planned for Finsbury Park, London.
Defying limits. Rebellious by design, Gymbox CEO Marc Diaper, credits the brand’s distinctive brand and programming in helping it stand out:
“This acquisition is testament to the incredible work our team has put into growing the brand and consistently delivering the most unique fitness and lifestyle experiences to Londoners.”
Growth mode. UGG is adding new concepts and expanding territories.
- Last year, it partnered with Holmes Place Brands on boutique-in-club deals, rolling out TRIB3 in TrainMore and PILAT3S in Clubsportive.
- UGG launched Gaia, female-only strength zones at TrainMore.
- It opened its fifth BTY CLB studio in two years, housing the women’s concept at The Hague’s TrainMore flagship.
Takeaway: Leveraging a portfolio of brands and sprawling network of sites, UGG is poised to mix and match clubs as it pursues ambitious growth across Europe and beyond.
