Women’s Sports Create Superconsumers

Watershed moment.

Per Nielsen data, the US watched 28.6B minutes of women’s sports in H1 ’26, up 18% YoY.

Critical mass. Over half the population now engages with the ecosystem, and advertising spend has surged 120% since 2022.

Sponsor valuations have increased 82% for the NWSL, 71% for the WNBA, and 51% for the LPGA, and BofA projects 250%+ revenue gains across US women’s sports by 2030.

New class. Women’s leagues are drawing in a cohort of young, affluent, and educated female viewers, with limited men’s audience crossover. A new breed of fandom, 62% follow individuals over teams, placing value on inspirational stories and cultural representation over talent alone.

Values play. A recipe for superconsumers, emotional resonance and aligned values are driving conversion, with ads delivering up to 426% higher ROI during women’s sports broadcasts and 60% of fans ready to switch brands based on ethos.

More bang per buck, the average WNBA and NWSL team sponsorship was $140K–170K in 2024, versus the ~$559K cost of entry for men’s pro leagues.

Takeaway: Sports have never been more influential, and a new wave of highly engaged fans is solidifying the women’s game as an AI-proof asset class.
