Apple Fitness+ is throwing weight behind strength training.
What’s happening: The tech giant’s subscription fitness platform debuted Gym Strength, a progressive training experience designed for in-gym use.
Load up. Housed within the Fitness+ app, Gym Strength builds four-week strength training regimens based on skill level, schedule, and available equipment — counting video demos, Apple Watch-linked vitals, and support for 150+ exercises across 30 equipment types.
Superset. Producing weekly minimal-equipment, trainer-led videos, Apple Fitness+ is doubling down on its most popular content type, strength, launching its first self-guided experience to reach users beyond the home.
Overload. Despite growing popularity, education and motivation gaps lead most Americans to skip resistance training. Solving everyday pain points, Ladder perfected personalized strength, and Peloton followed suit, while Future retooled with AI and new integrations. Quantifying workouts, WHOOP and Fort added muscular load metrics to guide training and recovery.
Looking ahead: Apple is reinvigorating Fitness+, jumping into a subscription strength race already in progress.
