Brodie Raises $3.6M to Reinvent Rec Basketball

Slam dunk.
Basketball tip-off
Brodie

Brodie is building the NBA for everyday athletes.

What’s happening: The Toronto-based recreational basketball league raised CA$5M (US$3.6M) to give amateur ballers a pro experience.

Hoopin’. With 12-week seasons, custom jerseys, and AI-powered stats, Brodie hosts 600+ games and 50K+ players across 35+ cities. Already North America’s largest rec basketball league, it plans to reach 100 markets by ’27.

On track for $10M+ in annual revenue, new funding will help Brodie build out its app and enter five more US markets, including Manhattan and Atlanta.

Play on. 8M+ Americans play high school sports, but 90%+ never compete post graduation.

As people seek active social experiences, rec league infrastructure—from Rec and Volo Sports to Crosscourt and Street FC—is helping them unretire.

Punchline: Playing pickup at the YMCA is timeless, but a tech-enabled rec sports revival is creating social experiences that inspire more to join in.
