Function Health is leaving nothing to chance.
The news: The preventative health platform acquired full-body MRI startup Ezra, integrating its FDA-cleared AI-powered scan with Function’s comprehensive labs.
Harmony. Synthesizing health insights from annual 160-marker bloodwork panels, Function has scaled rapidly since 2024, surpassing 200K members.
But, according to co-founder & CEO Jonathan Swerdlin, it’s been missing the complete picture: “Adding imaging was part of our vision from day one.”
Adding Ezra’s upgraded MRI tech to its platform, for an additional $499, a once-yearly, 22-minute scan will check for cancer, silent strokes, aneurysms, spinal issues, and more.
Health OS. Unlike Prenuvo, Ezra doesn’t own MRI clinics; it supplies third-party imaging providers. Counting 100 partners, it plans to expand to 1K+ in “coming months.”
A good match, Function enables testing at 2.2K Quest Diagnostics locations. Focusing on affordability, the alliance creates a high-agency personal health OS.
In demand. Sick of being sick, two-thirds of consumers would pay for preventative scans and bloodwork, making tech-enabled functional medicine in demand.
Moving fast, Function is reaching new users, striking partnerships with Equinox, Thrive Global, and the NBA, with several players personally investing in its $53M round last year.
Adding fuel, it’s rumored to have recently secured fresh funding at a $2.5B valuation.
Punchline: As cancer cases and chronic illnesses rise, next-gen diagnostics are decoding well-being, and Function wants to be the one-stop shop.
