Oura Delays Its IPO

Hold up.

Oura says the future can wait.

What’s happening: The smart ring maker is delaying its IPO amid market uncertainty.

False start. Oura’s vision for AI-powered health intelligence and strong financials sparked investor demand, with the company seeking up to $2.2B at a ~$15B valuation and the offering reportedly 5x oversubscribed.

Payday. But nearly two-thirds of the offering is existing shareholders cashing out, creating pricing pressure as early backer Forerunner Ventures looks to sell its entire 9.3% stake.

Hold up. Playing it cool, CEO Tom Hale said Oura has “the luxury of choosing our moment.” But peers and rivals are taking notes.

Lacking a public comparable since Fitbit in 2015, Oura’s eventual IPO is a litmus test for wearable-led ecosystems where health data, not hardware, is the business.

Punchline: As data, devices, and AI converge, the category will have to wait and see if Wall Street buys its vision for preventative health.
