Oura is all-in on metabolic health.
The latest: Continuing its evolution from sleep tracker to holistic health device, the smart ring maker acquired Finnish CGM platform Veri.
Following pushes into cardiovascular and women’s health, Oura says metabolic health is its next frontier. Absorbing Veri’s expertise, it plans to contextualize blood sugar beyond weight loss.
To start, it will add a Meals feature to its Oura Labs innovation hub this fall, letting members track the impact of food choices and timing on metrics like sleep and stress.
Survey says. Oura reports 97% of its members want to understand how foods impact health, 13% have worn a CGM, and 53% are interested in wearing one.
Heeding the call, Oura CEO Tom Hale believes the company can create an integrated UX:
“Today, Oura Ring is a standalone product, but we see a world where the product experience includes other health data inputs and sensors, such as CGMs, factoring into the data and insights presented within the Oura App.”
Mad dash. Capitalizing on spiking interest in metabolic health, CGM makers Abbott and Dexcom launched over-the-counter options for non-diabetics, while Levels added $10M last month.
Looking ahead: GLP-1s opened Pandora’s box, and conversations around glucose aren’t going away. Buying its way in, Oura wants to guide the metabolic health awakening.
