Happy Health’s Smart Ring Adds Blood Pressure Tracking

Clear path.

Happy Health is on the pulse.

What’s happening: The smart ring maker—which raised $75M in August—received FDA clearance for cuffless, calibrationless blood pressure measurement enabling continuous, clinical-grade tracking.

Pairing. Calling the development “blood pressure’s CGM moment,” Happy Health CEO Dr. Dustin Freckleton says freeing BP from the cuff turns occasional measurement into passive signal.

Combined with its existing FDA approval for at-home sleep apnea diagnosis, the ring can see two major cardiovascular disease risk factors, routing users’ data to Happy’s physician network for early intervention.

Vital signs. Blood pressure has become a heated wearable battleground.

Approaching medical device territory, WHOOP’s victory over the FDA accelerated the race — with Oura, Apple, and Samsung doubling down on optical sensors.

Meanwhile, Huawei’s mini-cuff watch earned the CE Mark in Europe, Hilo and Signal Ring debuted in the US, and Sky Labs integrated its ring with South Korean healthcare.

Punchline: Once mired by red tape, as healthcare warms to preventative data, wearable makers are replacing wellness designations with FDA-reviewed features.
